futsal
Futsal is the FIFA-recognized form of small-sided indoor football (the word is a contraction of the Spanish ‘fútbol sala’). It is played between two teams who each have five players on the pitch at any one time, with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball than soccer that is harder and less bouncy.
OFC and its Member Associations deliver a comprehensive futsal education programme.9 In coaching, the OFC Futsal C License course was introduced in 2016 and is available to all member associations with regular youth and/or senior futsal competitions.
Following the OFC Futsal Coach Educator course in 2019, member association futsal coaching certificate courses were introduced, enabling member association futsal coach educators to facilitate youth and senior coaching courses at regional and national level, to meet the increasing demand of the futsal community.
Futsal refereeing certificate and license courses are also available in member associations who conduct futsal activities.
